Color Therapy

Lovin' the "painterly" trend going on.
Just as I suppose a good therapy session might, it lifts my spirit.

Rihanna isn't 100% reppin' the look, but I think she's cute here & her shorts somewhat fit the trend.
Hope this inspires you to try on a little creative color.
Happy Monday!

Cotton Candy...

Who doesn't love cotton candy? Admittedly, I'm not a huge fan of the fair {being hurled uncontrollably in the air & dropped hundreds of feet - not my idea of fun}, and cotton candy is a bit too sweet for me, but I think it's so pretty to look at.
The rooms below that I found on one of my fave blogs Coco Kelley remind me of this childhood treat. They're both light, pink and pretty - just like that huge swirl of cloud-shaped sugar.

As you may have figured out by now, I like to play creative games from time to time. Like the one where I use lovely spaces as inspiration for wardrobe pieces {reference here & here}. These 2 rooms are perrrrfect for that game. Kind of a "Room To Runway". Here's what I came up with:

Room #1:

{Philosophy Fall '11}

{Isaac Mizrahi Fall '11}

Room #2:

{Marc Jacobs Spr '11}

{Marc Jacobs Spr '11}

Fun right? I think it's a good thing to play around a little.
And I happen to love these spaces. {Pink isn't always an easy color to pull off in a room, but this works.}
Me likey! So tell me Dear Ones - likey too?...

Just the right amount of...

Pomegranate + Ice

The icy almost 'nothingness' of this room is beautiful. Clean, light, and pretty. Then there's just the right amount of this gorgeous pomegranate color. So simple and then - whoa! - the couch draws your eye right to it. This piece perfectly positioned under the white window is quite stunning.

Because fashion is very often on my mind, I started thinking: 'what would an outfit inspired by this room look like?' I've done that before, like here, and here, but I'm so taken by this ethereal space that I feel compelled to do it again.

The look would have to be just as clean, simple, elegant and striking as the room. Here's what I came up with:

Gorgeous. {Loooove Lanvin!!}
Ok, so I'll admit that all of the covet-worthy pieces above are rather pricey and probably a bit out of working girl's range {or student or most anybody else}, but we all want to be smashing, right? And we must, so I've put together a few more *ahem* less-fantasy pieces you can try if you desire to 'Get This Look'.
Earrings, Topshop, $18
Wire Cuff, Topshop, $28

Dress, Topshop, $68 {*Woot Woot*}

Clutch, Bloomingdale's, $105

Badgley Mischka Heel, Bloomingdales, $245

Inspiration of fabulousness comes from all around, you see. Be inspired to think outside the box and take on a new look. Tell me what you come up with. I'll be right here waiting to chat ;-) ...

Unexpected.

Everything about this photo is incredibly intriguing. I love everything about it. The dress. The boots. The adorable baby elephant. The bottle. The Louis...

PER. FEC. TION.

Well, I now want a baby elephant just like that - Louis Vuitton blankie and all. And to top it off, I MUST be seen in this exact dress, with these exact boots, feeding my cutie pie with a bottle. All because me and him {or her, whichever works} are, well - perfect.

So this one goes out to all the pet-lovin'/perfect-picture-takers everywhere:

Be inspired to venture into new territory this weekend.
Please report all happenings on Monday.
{Full disclosure requested.}

Carla

*{Disclaimer: I know I told you here that I would have a "HUGE" -my words-surprise for you this week. Unfortunately, I've been unable to pull it off. Being a woman of my word however, I will most certainly offer up this 'surprise' soon. Sometimes, things don't go as planned...}

*(Can't remember where I found this amazing photo. Help!!)

And I'm Off!!...

Got a bike for Christmas. {Yay!!}
Since then, I've been having so much fun riding it around my 'hood. It's really my kind of exercise. Blue skies, beautiful trees, and sunshine.
Wouldn't it be kinda nice to ride around sporting {faux} fur, textured stockings and heels though?
I do love the hilarity of this photo, but don't think I'll be trying it out soon. {I'm sure her hair & makeup look nice & a bike ride would just interfere with all of that loveliness.}

At any rate, hope your weekend is filled with lots of stylish surprises.
I'll be back next week with a HUGE surprise that I think you'll enjoy.
Until then, Happy Weekend!!

Hello.

Welcome to the new year!
Isn't this the cutest picture? She's obviously ready to celebrate whatever's coming her way. Like the anticipation expressed by this 'Vogue-worthy' little girl, 2011 is sure to be a beautiful surprise. I just know it. I can't exactly see what's coming but I'm confident it'll be something to celebrate {in totally chic-style, of course}.
Pop out the balloons, put on your best dress and get ready...

Me and Misses Jones

Let me introduce my new bff, Jones. If you haven't already, please snag a copy of this amazing glossy. Jones Magazine, a premier fashion, beauty, lifestyle magazine, is "The Shopping Guide For Women Who Know Better". Each page is a beautiful representation of fashion, accessories, shoes, bags and beauty. All of the pretty little things girls worldwide covet most.
I couldn't be more thrilled to sit on the host committee for Meet Me In Miami, a signature Jones Magazine Event happening Oct 21-Oct 24. In anticipation of this upcoming fashion fete, Jones hosted a Meet & Tweet last week. Held in the penthouse of South Beach's Hilton Bentley Hotel, the room was full of beautiful people, candles and champagne. Below are a few shots from the night that I took...
{Me & "The Original Ms. Jones", Editor in Chief Tracey Ferguson}

{In Miami, of course models abound}

{More models, & local designer Geebin-4th from the left}

Needless to say, the evening was everything Jones is: fun, fashionable, and fabulously interesting. Be sure to check it out. I promise, it's an experience you'll repeat over and over.
Let me know if you love it as much as I do!

Celebrating All Things New...

Fall is on the cusp, Lovelies. For us in South FLA that means cooler breezes.
It also means an updated look. Now, that's cause for celebrating!
Also cause for celebrating is my guest post on the amazing blog The Beauty File!
So excited and happy to do it. Please check it out and let me know what you think.
Thanks Lisi for the invite :-)

Be Inspired!...

...By Pretty Habitats...

I love to see how other people live. Uptown, downtown, spacious, or cozy. The possibilities are endless. It may not be too surprising based on a few previous posts that I also love to let the rooms I find be my wardrobe inspiration from time to time.
This is how I drew inspiration from the texture and color palette of the room above to help make the selections below. One look at this beautiful space and I thought about dressing myself in a bit of tough, but glamourous luxury for day...
{Preen Fur Vest $800}
{Markus Lupfer Tee, $75}

{Balmain Leather Cargo Pants, $1,370}
{Alaia Chain Link Stilettos, $1,555}
{Topshop Fabric Earrings, $15}

{Topshop Cocktail Ring, $18}

...Like as much as I do?...

Pretty Studious

Today is the first day of school for many.
Why not walk in looking like you're ready for all that the day has to offer? Not sure exactly where this delightful girl is going, but I love her look. The styling is impeccable & so clever: monotone neutrals, red-haired side braid, very "smart" looking glasses, and a textured clutch. All genius choices.

Wishing a great year to all students out there from preschool to grad school. Be inspired to show up looking intelligently fashionable.
Happy learning!

Destination Dreamy

GOR.GE.OUS!

The Byblos Art Hotel in Verona, Italy is so stunningly beautiful that that's really the only word to best describe it. Gorgeous.
Both a museum of contemporary art and a five-star hotel, it's the absolute perfect mix of all things creatively beautiful. The very best in eye candy.

The lobby pictured above is breathtaking with it's colorful furniture, architecture, artwork and chandelier.

{A view from the outside.}

Love how the art hangs beautifully against the interesting mix of cocktail chairs and use of metallics.

Doesn't this lamppost look like a pretty piece of jewelry? LOVE!!

I love interacting with and being inspired by art. In fact, browsing through art galleries is another of my favorite past times. If you're going to be anywhere near Italy any time soon, please consider a stay here. The luxurious Byblos Art Hotel is a definite must-see for me in the future. For now, miles away from Italy, I'll have to settle for the view outside my door. The picture above that I took some time ago, although no Byblos Art Hotel, is not so shabby either - if I must say so myself!

Hooray!...It's Friday!...

Because I started the week off in a somewhat 'gloomy' fashion and I'm now back to my usual upbeat self, I thought I'd end the week on a higher note.
(BTW: Thanks Lovelies, for all of the suggestions & encouragement.)
Besides, it's Friday!!:-)
The weather in SFLA (while hot) is sheer perfection and I've been thinking of one of my favorite pastimes - reading.
This gorgeous photo comes from Dress Design Decor. It makes me want to book browse in a dress just like that. How lovely! While I love my glossies, there's nothing like a beautifully bound hardcover on art, fashion or photography.
What a beautiful cover!
Nina's books are must-haves for any fashion-phile.
The ultimate must-have, the story of Yves Saint Laurent (along with Lagerfeld).
Indeed, a visit to Miami Beach's Books & Books is on this weekend's agenda.
Happy Weekend!:-)
