No Hiding Behind Your Hat...

With Easter on it's way, Sunday to be exact, it's not too hard to bend your mind toward hats.
Especially if you celebrate this special occasion and go anywhere near a church. Often big, elaborate, floral hats abound. Me, not being the big-elaborate-hat-wearer, I started looking around for alternatives.

Many are familiar with Philip Treacy, the extravagant hat designer. Naomi is sporting one of his designs below...

...a little cooky, but none-the-less fabulous.

And no one does cooky-hat-look better than the wonderfully eccentric Anna Della Russo.

Ok, so granted, I will not be trying to pull this look off any time soon (translation: never).
I did find these beautiful hats by Jennifer Behr though. They're bridal, but so pretty. I really think I can make the look below work...I mean, maybe...If I had too...

At any rate, both floral hats are stunning.
Be inspired to try on something equally as stunning this Easter. Or for those of you not partaking in this celebratory experience, try one on for fun. Take a cue from Anna, shock the neighbors and walk your dog in it. You'll be on the side of every animal rights activist and loved by every die hard fashionphile.
What do you think? Brave enough to pull it off?...

Carla

Beat The Heat

With the weather being down right steamy in most parts of the country, it can get kind of tricky to keep summer hair cute and polished. My go-to look for beating summer heat is some version of the all-traditional bun.
...Zoe's classic look is always a tried and true winner...

...The newest version though, the top knot, is probably my fav...
(So cute!)

...Of course, "messy" always works well too
(especially when smothered in humidity)...

Recently though, I came across this pic of Christina Milian looking so bright, colorful and cheery. This low bun at the nape of her neck with the side-swept bang has been my personal go-to look forever.

I couldn't help but notice the similarity to the hairstyle in one of my head shots (seen above).

Then I couldn't help but notice the beautiful cover of Essence magazine's September issue. Naomi, Liya and The Legendary Iman are always stunners, but Iman just happens to be donning my go-to look as well. I must say it feels good to be in such great company! Tell me, what's your favorite go-to summer style?

L.P.S.,

Service with a style

Although I don’t advocate such un-model like behavior, I was flipping through some old photos of Naomi Campbell for inspiration and came across these shots from her week of community service penance. I couldn’t help but admire the picks selected for her solo runway show. Each day was an eye fashion feast ending with a show stopping long silver gown...there's still only one Naomi.

For the love of fur

Naomi Campbell took these photos for fur Dennis Basso some time ago amidst the controversy over her previous anti-fur stance. But as the ads begin to hit the pages of fall magazines, I couldn’t ignore how beautiful she looks. The combo of the meticulous handcrafting and innovation and the beauty of Naomi are to die fur.

Naomi, Liya and Iman oh my!

All this fabulousness in one room is almost too much to bear...this flawless pair was spotted at the Important Dinner for Women. Naomi Campbell wears Azzedine and Iman in Lela Rose. Other beauties at the event included Liya Kebede and entertainment mogul, Tyra.
