Haven't tried a Brazilian? Check out these before and after pics of my keratin experience

I know this post has been a long time in the making but I wanted to take my newly Brazilian keratin treated hair for a test run before sharing my thoughts. I was a little skeptical about the treatment for months but when two of my friends took the plunge I decided to give it a try.

First, I did a bit a research and had a few questions when I arrived at the Global Keratin headquarters in Hollywood, Florida. My first question was, “What is it?” To put it simply, Global Keratin is a treatment system that infuses the hair with natural keratin deep into the hair cuticle, helping the hair to fight off frizz caused by humidity. What every South Florida girl needs.

My next question – and this one was a biggie. “Would it be safe to use on my relaxed hair?

“Absolutely,” said Keesha Maitland, customer service and certification coordinator (and amaaaazing make-up artist. Check out her work at Let Me Paint Your Canvas). “Global Keratin is a hair care treatment not a process so it will help to restore and rejuvenate chemically treated hair.”

Ok, I was ready. The treatment was applied to my hair from root to tip and then flat ironed to 430-450 degrees to seal the product into my hair. The process blocks out the effects of moisture leaving the hair silky and straight. Based on your hair type, the treatment will last for approximately three to five months.

I was instructed to keep my hair dry and abstain from pulling the hair in any way – meaning no hair clips, barrettes, hats or any type of hair accessories - for 48 hours. Global Keratin also has a fabulous shampoo and conditioner to use to extend the life of the treatment. Both products are sodium chloride and sulfate-free another must for keratin treated hair. And don’t forget the Global Keratin Serum - my fav product right now.

After six weeks, I have had no problems with breakage or shedding…nothing but frizz-free (yeah), bouncy hair. And, can confidently say if you’ve been contemplating the treatment, go Global - Keratin that is.
